  10. The Multi-Media Bridge Working Group met twice at the Boulder IETF. The
  11. first meeting was spent reviewing the Charter which was subsequently
  12. approved and published.
  13.  
  14. The second meeting was spent reviewing the Multi-Media Bridge Technology
  15. and its impact on the TCP/IP architecture.  A general review of the
  16. bridging standard (IEEE document 802.1d) was made and the following
  17. issues were raised to be addressed by the Working Group:

  20.    o Differing MTU sizes among different media types.
  21.    o Differing Bit/Byte ordering problems - especially with respect to
  22.      datalink addresses.

  25. The group then reviewed the following RFC's;
  26.

  28.    o RFC 1042 (IP over 802 Networks)
  29.    o RFC 1188 (IP over FDDI)
  30.    o RFC 1191 (Path MTU Discovery)

  33. It was felt that these documents have laid the foundation for the future
  34. work of the group.  At the next meeting the group will begin to address
  35. an appropriate strategy for 802.5 networks.
